June 5

Hello Canoe Islanders.

Much has happened since our last update and we are looking forward to the start of summer at Canoe Island Lodge but we recognize that much will be different.

Although there has been some progress in our area, we were saddened to see the summer camps of the Adirondacks close for the season. We realize that we operate more as a summer camp for families than a standard hotel. Even at a reduced capacity, we cannot have a busy dining room with folks sharing tables, children’s activities & games in the tavern, groups dancing, talent shows and sails shared with friends.

Although it is not what we envision for our Canoe Island Lodge family, we do have an alternative for many of you.  We are renting the houses and cottages that have kitchens as well as a few individual rooms with refrigerators and microwaves. This scenario would reduce the occupancy of the lodge to between 30- 40% of our usual number of guests. The waterfront & the Island will feel spacious and your accommodations will ensure your privacy and self-sufficiency.

Although we will not be able to offer our activities and meals, we will have a list of local restaurants that will deliver or have curbside take-out available and grocery stores that deliver.

For those of you with a boat, or who would like to rent a boat, we will have boat slips available.  We will also offer an island shuttle throughout the day to head to the island beach for swimming and recreating.

There will not be daily housekeeping service, but accommodations will be cleaned and made up with linens and extra towels on arrival day. Our staff have been trained in protocols in compliance with state and local guidelines related to COVID-19. We have continuing guidance from our hotel partners and regulators to guide us with our disinfecting procedures to assure you of a safe and relaxing stay.

As we are approaching our 75th season, we can offer what we always have: a home away from home for your family to relax and recharge while enjoying beautiful Lake George.  Please contact us if we can provide additional information or if you would like to make reservations.

May 6

Hello Canoe Islanders,

It certainly is an unsettling time for all of us and we know that better days are ahead.  We have all of you in our thoughts and we hope this letter finds you and your families well. We are looking at all aspects of the guest experience & safety at the Lodge and are utilizing many sources to determine how to give you the best experience, while keeping you and our employee’s safe.

These are ever-changing times and we are following the governor’s guidance and protocols.  We are preparing to open in June, and look forward to welcoming guests to the lodge. We will continue to update you as we know more.

Our goal is to provide the relaxing experience at Lake George that you have come to know us by. We know that things will be different this summer, however some things will be the same; the Lake will be clean and glorious, the sun will be warm and comforting, and we will be anxiously awaiting your arrival with smiles.

As we are approaching our 75th season, we look forward to seeing you this summer and for many seasons to come.
